Historic Buildings - Services

JB Archaeology Ltd Archaeology JB Archaeology Ltd ArchaeologyIn addition to the usual planning requirements, listed building consent can sometimes require an archaeological input. Typically this takes the form of an historic building survey prior to any alteration works commencing. Building recording is carried out to a series of recognised guidelines produced by English Heritage, with Level 1 being the simplest and Level 4 the most complex. The aim of the recording is to produce a suitably detailed record of any significant surviving architectural or historical features prior to re-development works.

JB Archaeology Ltd has undertaken the recording of many historic buildings (including domestic houses, industrial buildings, lime kilns, medieval deer parks and dry docks) and has worked closely with conservation architects in the re-development of historic structures.
